Material Selection/Collection Development

The purpose of the Phillips Public Library is to provide all individuals in the community with carefully selected books and other materials to aid the individual in the pursuit of education, information, research, pleasure, and entertainment. Library Cards

Library cards grant borrowing and computer privileges and are issued without cost to anyone 4-years old or older. Anyone can get a Phillips Public Library card regardless of whether or not you are a resident of the City of Phillips or the surrounding areas, or if you are just visiting. New patrons are limited to borrowing 3 items for the first month. If you need items for longer than the usual loan period ask at the front desk during check out.

Internet Use

Any patron with a valid library card may use the Internet after signing the library’s “Internet Acceptable Use Agreement”. Persons under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian’s signature on this form to gain Internet access. The library does not assume any responsibility for what a child does while on the computers once a parent or guardian has signed the agreement. In addition, any person 11yrs old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while using computers with Internet access.

Patrons are allotted one half hour of Internet use. Should there not be anyone waiting for use of the computers, this time limit can be extended to meet one and a half hours per day.

The library also provides free access to WIFI for those patrons who would rather use their own devices.

Overdue/Lost/Stolen/Damaged Materials

Patrons are expected to return materials by their due dates. Phillips Public Library does not charge daily overdue fines, but failure to return items will result in replacement costs for the items.  In extreme cases local law enforcement may also become involved. If materials are damaged while in the care of a patron, replacement charges will be applied to the appropriate account.

Children in the Library

We welcome people of all ages and have a wonderful children’s department with toys, puppets, and books for little minds and fingers to explore. We do ask, however, that children under the age of 7 be supervised at all times while in the library for their own safety. We hope every library visit has your child asking to come back for more books and more fun.
