In response to the book challenges made over the past year, the Phillips Public Library has made a few changes with the hopes that parents/guardians will be better able to decide and recognize what their children are reading. Going forward, any book in the Children’s Collection that contains LGBTQ content will have a sticker on its inside cover denoting it as such. We have also added a new section to our Children’s Non-Fiction collection, titled ‘Family Discussions’. Books in this collection are about topics that parents/guardians might what to discuss with their children while they read. We hope that this will help patrons find books on difficult topics as well as prevent a child from stumbling onto a topic they might find confusing. The Library supports the right of each parent/guardian to decide what is right for their child to read at any given time. We hope these changes help, but, as always, our friendly staff is here to help you find the materials you want and need.
