There are many fun and interesting things for kids to discover and learn from at the Phillips Public Library as well as many interesting programs for them to participate in!
If you have any questions about our children's programming please contact our Youth Services Librarian, Jo at 715 339-2868.
Every Wednesday at 10:30am join Miss Jo in the story pit for a look at some of our most loved books and exciting new titles. Directly after, enjoy a craft with you fellow storytimers in the Library's community room. Storytime is open to people of all ages, just show up and enjoy!
Books Are Magic!:
Our new ten step reading program for children ages birth-5 encourages parents to read to their young children, instilling in them a sense of wonder and a love of books that will lead them to become great readers.
To sign your child up for the program stop at the front desk and pick up a short registration form. Each child will then receive a special book bag with several fun items inside; coloring pictures, book suggestions, and a Step form with 100 stars. Every time you read a book with your child color in one star on the Step form. When all of the stars are filled in, return the form to the library and the child will get to pick out a prize and put a sticker on our Step level wall. The child will then be given the next Step packet. This process is repeated until Step form 10 is completed, at which point the child graduates from the program. At graduation we will take a picture of the child and place it on our Wall of Fame mural and the child will receive a special hardcover book.
This program has no time limit, so you fill out the forms at your own pace. A book can be read more than once and count for more than one star- we encourage you to come to the library and find a favorite book that your child will want to read time and time again, or find that book from your own childhood and share it with your children. If you come to storytime on Wednesdays you can color in stars for those books as well.
